Tutta La Classe strikes Pearl bonus8 Sep 2019

A light weight coupled with a smart ride from promising apprentice Masa Hashizume paved the way for Tutta La Classe scoring in the $10,000 NZB Insurance Pearl Series (Rating 65) over 1400 metres and by doing so, picked up the important fillies and mares Pearl Bonus.

The four-year-old daughter of Per Incanto has been out of form since running two fine third placings in Stakes company this time last year but a better performance here last month showed she was getting near her best form.
On Friday, Hashizume made full use of his 4kg claim, with only 53.5kgs on her back, and ace draw, the pair were in front soon after the start and although favourite Lily The Pink (M. Cameron) put in strong resistance, the 6.5kgs difference told as Tutta La Classe comfortably held a three-quarter of a length advantage at the line over the favourite, with Nomoathaj (S. Spratt) a length and a quarter back in third.
“With the small amount of runners, I wanted to make her comfortable in the running and she found a good rhythm,” Masa Hashizume said.
Hashizume is in good form at the moment, after a bold winning ride at Counties midweek.
“I have a good teacher and I’m learning every-day,” he added.

Tutta La Classe’s winning time was 1:26.87 (last 600m in 36.09) on a Heavy10 track.

“Masa rode him perfectly. With the light weight, we wanted to go forward and if we miss it go early, it worked out beautiful,” trainer Iain Marks said.
“It was a bonus that we had race fitness as well as getting the Pearl bonus.”
“She has improved. I made a mistake at Ruakaka going a mile first up, then coming here over 1200m last time was too short, so over 1400m was perfect today.”
“Masa has told me she will cope over more ground too,” Marks said.
Tutta La Classe second win from 14 starts takes his stakes past $35,000 for owners Miss B Davies, I C Marks & C P Thompson.
