Ladylax back to winning ways9 Oct 2019

Ladylax bounced back to winning ways in commanding fashion in the $22,500 Website Angels (Rating 65) over 1400 metres.

The daughter of Ferlax was heavily supported in her last start lacklustre effort at Hastings but on Friday was in a race on her own once she secured the lead from the inside draw. She jumped, led, ran moderate sectionals and kicked away to score by over three lengths to Church Road (D. Mansour) with a neck back to Choctoc (L. Innes) in third.
“We were disappointed at Hastings but she’s a big girl and held a little condition, so she needed the run and improved a tonne and did the job quite nicely today,” Craig Grylls said.
“We used the draw to our advantage and put her in the race. She settled good and we got a reasonably easy time in front, and I was pretty happy the way she was travelling turning and she’s kicked on good.”
“I think she’ll improve with the run too.”
“She’s a big striding horse and feels she’s got the goods,” Grylls added.

Ladylax’s winning time was 1:24.20 (last 600m in 35.00) on a Dead5 track.

“She was a disappointing at Hastings but has been working like a winner lately,” trainer Andrew Forsman said.

Ladylax second win came in her fifth raceday start for owner W H Luff.
The Baker Racing Stable purchased her for $25,000 at the 2017 New Zealand Bloodstock Select Sale from Haunui Farm’s draft.
