Impressive late winning burst by Kya Khoob Lagti Ho29 Oct 2019

Kya Khoob Lagti Ho raw talent was clear with a superb win in the $22,500 Distinction Hotel (Rating 65) over 1600 metres at Te Rapa on Monday.

The four-year-old daughter of Pierro, was restrained to the back half of the field by rider Sam Weatherley and gave the leaders a good half dozen lengths when straightening and when it looked Peloton looked the winner, Kya Khoob Lagti Ho burst away from the pack and score effortlessly by two and half lengths to Peloton, with a similar margin to favourite Zamax (O. Bosson) in third.
“She really impressed me,” Sam Weatherley said.
“She got back but the speed was on, I just needed a couple runs to open up and they did, and I thought we were going to run a nice second because the other horse had a nice break on us but she did it quite easily in the end.”
“It was a pretty dominate victory,” he added.

Kya Khoob Lagti Ho winning time was 1:36.43 (last 600m in 35.72) on a Dead4 track.

“I was expecting a big run because she worked up really well,” trainer Frank Ritchie said.
“Her first run was a good run. She was stuck wide without cover and she has improved since then.”
“I said to Sam, you can’t go round them, and we got the break and it was a nice win.”
“I really think she is a 2000m horse. I will nominate her for the Dunstan Feeds Stayers series and that will be the main aim.”

Kya Khoob Lagti Ho was purchased at the 2017 Ready To Run Sale for $210,000 from Kiltannon Stables draft.
Kya Khoob Lagti Ho provided the second winner of the day for Australian sire Pierro, after Dragon Luck’s emphatic victory earlier on the card.
