The wellbeing of our customers and staff is our number one priority.


- All non-essential face to face meetings will be conducted via phone or video call until further notice. Drop in meetings and sales calls will not be accepted.
- Contractors & Suppliers may continue to carry out their roles that are essential to the day to day operations of the Waikato Racing Club.
- They must sign in, with full name, business and contact number at either the Main Office or Track Office, which ever is applicable to their role.
All visitors will be asked to sanitize their hands at the sign in location.

To help prevent the spread of COVID-19 we ask that those coming on site to Te Rapa Racecourse take the following steps:

- Do not come on site if you are feeling unwell
- Do not attend events if you have been in mainland China, Iran, northern Italy or the Republic of Korea (excluding airport transit) in the past 14 days
- Do not attend events if you’ve been in contact with a person who has a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the past 14 days
- Ensure you follow good hygiene practices such as:
covering coughs and sneezes with disposable tissues or coughing/sneezing into your elbow
disposing of used tissues appropriately in a bin
washing hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water and drying them thoroughly, or using hand sanitiser:
trying to keep a metre away from people who are unwell

Welcome to the Waikato Racing Club & Te Rapa Event Centre.

As always, the safety of our staff, and you as visitors is paramount.

We understand the effort, planning and cost that goes into organising events, but this does not diminish the responsibility we all have to provide a safe environment.
The Waikato Racing Club is following the Ministry of Health Guidelines currently in place relating to COVID 19 and are adapting our practices as are they are updated.

We recognize the importance of implementing preventative measures to reduce the potential of spreading this virus.

Therefore, to protect you & your fellow event attendees today we recommend that;
• If you feel unwell you leave the premises immediately
• If you have travelled outside of New Zealand in the past 14 days (excluding the Pacific Islands) you do not attend today’s event.
• Thoroughly wash your hands when you reach your designated room before your function commences. Toilets are located on each level, Enter the venue and turn right

Further to the above, no events with a patronage of over 100 may take place at this venue. If attendance numbers are deemed higher than 99 by a member of the Waikato Racing Club (WRC) staff, the event will cease immediately, and all patrons will be ordered to leave. WRC reserve the right to continually monitor attendance numbers throughout the course of any scheduled event.

To ensure we do the utmost to protect our staff and event attendees we have implemented the following;
• Signage reminding people to practice good hygiene (coughing, sneezing and hand hygiene)
• Provided additional equipment and facilities to support good hygiene practices
• Our cleaning contractor has increased the frequency of cleaning public surfaces particularly door handles, escalators, stairwells and lifts
• Advised all staff that if they feel unwell, they are to stay at home

New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing (NZTR) have released the below mandate, effective 4pm on Tuesday 17th March. The new rules that have been set in place will be reviewed again by NZTR on Monday 13th April.

Please note that The Waikato Racing Club (WRC) is not set to race (or trial) until Sunday 19th April.

Training at Te Rapa As always, all Track Work riders and Trainers MUST be registered with NZTR and it is imperative that they clearly identify themselves to the WRC Gap staff or Track Manager before commencing any work on the training facilities.

We will stay in communication with NZTR and update Members & Stakeholders if/when any new information comes to light before Monday the 13th.
