Saturday September 4th

Grp 2 Valachi Downs Foxbridge Plate Raceday

Run since 1950 this is one of the Waikato Racing Club's Flagship Races. Steeped in history with a stellar roll of honour.

Following the Government announcement on Monday that the Waikato region, and other regions outside of Auckland, will possibly drop alert levels at 11.59pm on Friday we are now in a position to offer you guidance on the Valachi Downs Foxbridge Plate meeting.
This meeting on Saturday will be run as a CLOSED DOOR event. It is unfortunate that we will be unable to host Owners, Sponsors, Patrons or our valued Members on the day but the safety of our participants and following Government and NZTR protocols is paramount.

It will be a privilege to be able to recommence racing under Alert Level 3 and we will be strictly adhering to the directives as we did so successfully in 2020.
The day will be headlined by the Group2 Valachi Downs Foxbridge Plate. We thank Kevin and Joanna Hickman and the Valachi Downs team headed by Gareth Downey for their support once again of this important meeting
A premier Matamata establishment, Valachi Downs operates on more than 600 acres and covers all aspects of breeding and racing, including significant expansions in 2018 with the standing of stallions in a new purposely built station and the acquisition of a private training facility adjacent to the nearby Matamata racecourse.

The stud’s ambitions remain focused on breeding elite athletes both to present its colts for sale at the annual yearling sales and with the fillies retained to race in the stud’s Old Gold and Royal Blue colours. Learn more about Valachi Downs here >>

As well as supporting the main race, the undercard will see resident stallions Saville Row and Vespa represented. Available for the 2021/22 Season you can learn more about the Valachi Downs stallion roster

It is unfortunate that the Valachi Downs sponsorship has been impacted yet again by a lockdown, but we extend our gratitude for their unwavering support.

While you enjoy the meeting from the safety and comfort of home you will once again have access to an interactive racebook.
Ian Innes of Racing Type has spent a great deal of time advancing the user experience of the interactive race books, they’re proving very popular.
Following the Government Press Conference with confirmation that the meeting will be able to go ahead we will update this page with a link to the interactive racebook, track conditions and hopefully find you a winner or two.

Please ensure you familiarise yourself with the NZTR directives.
