Easter Stakes winner Seventh Up lines up at Te Rapa this weekend in the $30,000 Norris Ward McKinnon over 1400 metres, before boarding a plane bound for Brisbane the following week for the profitable Queensland winter carnival in the coming weeks.

The son of Shinko King put in an eye-catching performance taking out the Group Two feature at Ellerslie last month, downing a high class field including Hiflyer, Let Me Roar and Scapolo.

The win didn't go un-noticed by the handicappers, penalizing the Shelley Hale trained gelding 10 points for the win.

"A trip across the Tasman was first raised as a possibility in the days following his spectacular win in the Easter," Hale said.

"If everything goes well, we'll put him on a plane to Brisbane the following Friday and take it from there," she said.

The early open handicap event has attracted a competitive field with Group performers El Pescado, Mighty Solomon and Battle Time.

Veteran galloper John Gray makes his second start after a spell, as does progressive Central Districts visitor Profile.
